Our Journey
Welcome from Daniel & Angie
We would like to say thank you for your interest in our products and our craft. Daniel works underground in the coal mines and Angie is a homemaker who loves to craft and coupon for her family. We love working together on projects and Daniel always needs something to keep him busy.
We are working on remodeling our home and that is where this journey began. We were looking at the cost of premade and ready to assemble cabinetry for our kitchen remodel and it was overwhelming the cost of cabinets for our kitchen. We couldn’t find all the cabinetry that we wanted in a finish that we loved and were not willing to pay such high prices for something that was just “good enough”. We agreed that if we were going to spend $13,000 on cabinets, they should be something we loved.
This lead us to YouTube. Many long hours were spent learning about woodworking and how to make our own. Learning to make our own took trial and error and we of course saw the value in buying the tools (don’t take Angie in Harbor Freight or Lowes and take her to the tools section…lol) because they would be used many times throughout the reno.
We sat down and crunched the numbers. We could have a kitchen that we loved with all the upgraded hardware and pull out shelves and a custom pantry for less than half the price of the pre-made cabinets that we just liked which had no bells or whistles. It was a no-brainer.
In spring of 2020 Daniel was out of work for two months due to the lockdowns over the pandemic. He was going stir crazy and was sent to the shop to tinker. While he was out there, he built picnic tables that convert to benches, ladder planters, and too many small projects to list. Together we began to add wording with burning and the router. Daniel found he really enjoyed woodworking, so we kept it as a hobby.
In the fall of 2020, his mom asked him to remodel her kitchen. Over the years Angie had listened to her issues with the cabinets that she had as well as issues with the layout. They sat down and put pencil to paper and come up with an all new layout and many small upgrades that they could use in order to make the kitchen one that she would be comfortable using for the foreseeable future.
This was our first big test. We put in pull out slides in her cabinets instead of shelves so she would have easy access to her whole cabinet space, rearranged the layout to solve many frustrations that she had, and used all soft-close hardware so no great-grandchildren could slam doors or drawers. We even installed her a new wall of cabinets that she lovingly named her coffee bar. We even made and installed custom countertops and backsplash we made using epoxy.
This HUGE project taught us many lessons through trial and error. We had acquired many tools and materials that we got creative with. We have been encouraged by many people to start showing everything online and so here we are.
We plan to start our kitchen remodel in the spring of 2022. As we go through the process, we intend to post pictures and videos of the journey and update everyone as much as possible. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy this journey with us.
